Fighting Germs With Trained Eyes and Technology
High-touch areas harbor various germs that we combat with Level-II monitoring systems.
Medical facilities are highly susceptible to rapid germ growth, and we identify the high-touch areas that create the most significant patient risk. We use qualitative measurements to help us document and monitor germs and train employees on proper cleaning and disinfection methods.
Direct Observation
Through direct leadership observation, our EVS technicians learn and improve their overall performance in assigned areas of responsibility.
Direct performance observation allows our leaders to monitor and document cleaning practices. We emphasize reinforcing proper methods and providing consistent, positive, and constructive feedback. Our OPS360 quality assurance platform lets us record these observations in real time, providing a baseline for future training schedules.
ATP Testing
Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) Testing allows us to determine the cleanliness of surfaces to better understand the effectiveness of our procedures.
We monitor ATP levels using a small hand-held device called a luminometer. Typically, we take a reading of ATP levels before we clean a surface. Our employee swabs a surface, inserts the swab into the luminometer, and the device reads the ATP level. Then, we sanitize the surface according to our cleaning protocols before taking another reading. The ATP reading should then be at an acceptable level. If not, the area may need cleaning again, and we may evaluate our standard cleaning protocols for effectiveness.
